Idlewild Farm prides itself in the care of the horses on the farm.
- Idlewild Farm offers many different types of feed to accommodate the individual needs of each horse. We offer 12% and 10% textured feeds, low starch and senior feeds. All feeds are Triple Crown feeds provided by Southern States.We also offer rice bran oil, beet pulp and strongid 2CX for those wishing for a daily wormer.
- All of our horses are on a bi-monthly de-worming schedule, receive regular veterinary care, including dental as needed.
- Our farrier schedule is posted at each barn and farrier services are provided by two independent farriers, Loren Griggs and Jeremy Dean.
- Each horse receives small group turn-out daily.
- In the summer months, the horses are in from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. In the winter months, the horses are in from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m.
- The stalls are cleaned throughout the day as needed in the summer and once per day in the winter.
